How we organize ourselves

Students are inquiring into the transdisciplinary theme 'How we organize ourselves'. During the week, they learned about needs and wants through pretend play stores. After playing, they reflected and analyzed the difference between needs and wants. It was also a great opportunity to revise the concept of money using fake notes.
For their learning of Maths concepts of skip counting by 2 and 5, they played games like hopscotch, snakes and ladders and skip counting by 5 with a name of a food item.
For their writing lesson, students heard a story read aloud by Ms. Elizabeth followed by creating a storyboard.
Students learned different strategies to learn the times table of 2 using varied resources. The strategies are skip counting on a number line with rulers, repeated addition, arrays, and grouping through popsicle sticks, Rangometry, and Jodo cubes.
To understand the concept of responsible production and consumption, they watched the video titled- 'The Story of Stuff'.
Students celebrated 'International Mother Language Day' through an assembly and participated in different centers according to their mother language.
To express their understanding of the different processes, they had a show and tell presentation.
We also visited our school kitchen to observe the process of making bread.
For the student-led session, Swara prepared a song on 'Protecting the Environment'.
It is so much fun to be face-to-face at school. :)
