Week-29 ends and 6 more weeks to go!!!

This week, the Music lessons were conducted by the Homeroom teachers. We got an opportunity to sing and play the recorder together and have fun. We practised the songs taught by Mr. Subhadip while singing and playing recorders with the students.
For our Maths inquiry, students learned the concept of 3-dimensional shapes. They identified, described, and sorted these shapes- cube, cuboid, prism, cone, pyramid, cylinder, and sphere.

The students also had the opportunity to create 3D structures using Jodo straws (a resource from our library) and paper nets.
They also created patterns and grouped them according to the features of the shape- faces, vertices, and edges.
For our unit of inquiry, we started with the last unit under the transdisciplinary theme-'How we express ourselves' focusing on 'Creativity and Imagination'. On Monday they explored the different words in centres expressing their understanding of 'Create, Make, Ideas, Inspire, Design, Imagine, and Dream. a book called- ' Beautiful Oops!' was read aloud by the teacher for them to identify and reflect on creativity and imagination.

The students made good connections between the book and the words explored earlier. As a follow-up to the book, they were given an opportunity to express their creativity and imagination using the available resources in the classroom.
For our language lessons, we have begun with the literature/ author study. We are reading books by a renowned author of children's books called 'Eric Carle'. The students have been exposed to two books during the week- The Very Lonely Firefly and The Mixed-Up Chameleon.
Like every Thursday, we had our Guided Reading lesson in groups. Students had the opportunity to have access to audio books from Oxford Owl in the listening centre.
On Friday, students continued with their art works during the Art lesson.
A student from Grade 1K expressed her kindness in action by making an upcycled project and gifting it to our class. It was a lovely gesture extended by her.
Thank you, Viana! :)
