Fulfilling Friday

Today's morning meeting was led by Irfan. He made us all groove early this morning on the famous track titled 'I like to move it'.
'Dream Destination', activity has been assigned to students on Seesaw. This activity is aligned with our unit of inquiry. Until now, students have inquired about themselves, their school, their houses, their favourite festivals and now its the time to find out about their favourite place or their dream destination.
We used 'The floor is lava' song for our energizer during the day.
Then, students listened to an audiobook called 'Monster Musical Chairs'. This book was to introduce to them the concept of subtraction.
Before we started listening to the book, the teacher questioned how many of them knew about musical chairs and how many of them have played or experienced this game. Most of the students knew and have played this game in the past. Vocabulary like less, take away, give away, left came out through our discussions during and after listening to the book.
Krithin displayed his books where he practises the basic operations of addition and subtraction at home out of his interest.
Through pictures, students were taken through the concept of subtraction. They learned two strategies for solving subtraction problems - backward counting and splitting.
In the last lesson, we had the 'Gummy bear' song as an energizer. Thereafter, we continued with practising the concept of subtraction.
Reyansh suggested a game for subtraction which can be played with the help of balloons. It was interesting to know that students have started applying their learning in different ways. He also acknowledged the sources by mentioning that his mom helped to find this game on phone.
We practised some problems using the strategies learned during the class today.
Students were guided to make a note of the questions solved together.
During the check-in, the second group clarified their doubts and sorted their queries related to the concept of money.
Students were provided with some links to games related to money. They all were engrossed in exploring and playing those games.
The week just flew by, both the students and teachers are waiting to see each other in the physical school on Monday!
