Thankful Thursday

Students practised mindfulness through the 'Belly Breathing' technique today. Thereafter we went into breakout rooms for our reading session.
In different groups, students were assigned books based on informational texts that focused on our current unit. They display agency by sharing their screens and leading their groups during the reading sessions as well.
In one of the groups, students displayed different feelings through their expressions. They also created and wrote sentences based on the feelings discussed during and after reading the book.
Students were introduced to 'Tenses' through a video. It was paused at regular intervals to check their understanding. We also discussed few examples and students were guided to write them.
In Maths, students were introduced to the concept of subtraction through calculating change. We have been focussing on different concepts through teaching them about money. With the help of story problems and picture problems, students were guided to calculate money if they were to buy things/ objects. We also used the available resources like pens and fingers to understand the concept of subtraction. Ashrith suggested the backward counting strategy to solve problems.
Students were informed yesterday that we will be celebrating 'Children's Day' in the last lesson today and so we did. They decided to display their talents during this session. Swara demonstrated a beautiful and graceful dance.
Evana showed her Rubik's cube called 'Pyramik' tricks.
Lakshmi Ayra shared about her Halloween dress-up and celebration with her brother that they arranged.
Then, Rajeev displayed the paper flowers along with narrating an informational story. These flowers were created by him and his father, he mentioned.
Siyana displayed some art and craft that she created.
Kritin Shourya also demonstrated some Rubik's cube tricks that he learned on his own.
Swara also showed some Hula-hoop moves with three different hoops. She also used her wave board along with Hula-hoops.
We had loads of fun as we enjoyed watching the innate talents that came out like flying colours during today's celebration. :)
