On Wednesday, we had a small workout session along with getting to know more about our students.
During our SEL lesson, Ms. Latha guided us to be aware of ourselves by reflecting on our emotions. Students discussed this in three groups. They were to discuss when they feel happy, sad, scared, and frustrated.
She also took us through a book on emotions that displayed some strategies for anger management.
For Maths, we are using different manipulatives for counting. We used concrete material of beads/beans/counters, base ten blocks, ten frames, and now the concept of bundling is introduced to them. We will continue to practice this next week.
Students observed a picture prompt to describe it in their words. They were guided by the teachers to write it in their four-line books. The teachers requested them not to take any help or support from their elders. This activity is assigned on Seesaw. We request all students/ parents to upload the picture of their writing piece by today which is the 21st of August 2021. Thank you to the ones who have uploaded it already.
On Thursday, students enhanced their thinking skills by asking meaningful questions.
The teachers guided students to identify the changes they undergo from their birth to the present. They watched a video about growing up and then we discussed the changes they could identify.
The teachers asked students how would they know about how they grew up and what changes have they undergone from birth to their present age. Students responded that they could know through their pictures and they could also ask their family members. They developed some questions to interview their parents and/ or grandparents. This activity is assigned on Seesaw as a mini-project called 'Timeline of my life'. It has a step-wise instruction where the students can take one step at a time. For example- Step-1 on Saturday, Step-2 on Sunday, and so on. They have a week's time to work on this project, they can submit it by the 28th of August 2021.
The student-led session is the most exciting event in Crew One. The different activities performed by students were narrating a story with Origami puppets, a card trick, a puzzle called gravity maze, singing, wave board, bouncy ball, dominoes, cycling, Rubik's cube, and a shape building puzzle.
It was a short and sweet week where we all had loads of fun learning! :)
