Reading books has been a pleasure for all of us. We have a dedicated lesson for reading every week. One of the groups read aloud a book related to the unit- 'Learning about the past'. Their follow-up task was to create a new page for the book with illustrations and content.
The other group predicted and illustrated the content by looking at the cover page and the title of the book- 'Beach Fun'. They used storyboards to present their predictions.
In Maths, students brought different kinds of coins they had in their piggy banks. It was their initiative to display the coins they have saved. It was fascinating to see that students had coins not only from India but from other countries too.
Some of them also had notes/bills to display. Students were guided to count the coins they had and they responded through the chat option on Zoom. We also used a website to count money in terms of pence and pounds.
One of the students led one group in a breakout room to add the different coins on the website by sharing his screen. The website is mentioned here for your reference: https://mathsbot.com/manipulatives/coins
The other group matched the coins with its denominations by annotating today.
For our UOI lesson, we reflected on the different changes from the past to the present in our personal lives chronologically through timelines created by the students. We also looked at the timeline of the school created in groups collectively after Ms. Latha's guest session on the history of our school.
We discussed different ways and different tools through which the timeline was created. Some of the examples were displayed to reflect on the representation that included photo collage, videos, drawing/ illustrating, online templates, and paper presentations.
The students were introduced to a new tool called 'Popplet' that they will use to create a timeline tomorrow. They may choose to make a timeline of their house, artifact, pet, plant, or anything that they know about and/or have observed the changes over a period of time.
Popplet requires a login, kindly help the students with parents' email addresses to have access to this online tool to create a timeline of their choice. Thank you. :)
