Mindful Monday

Mondays are 'fundays' as we get to see each other after an entire weekend. It is exciting to catch up with students' stories about their weekend and they come back with so much enthusiasm. During our check-in session today, we got to play a game in a smaller group to reinforce the concept of addition. Students were given a choice to select a number and keep adding the number from the puzzle to the sum they get. The first few examples were displayed to the students and they were guided to write their responses in the Maths Journal on the Seesaw blog in the comments section.

Students were introduced to the concept of money in Maths today.

The students annotated on the screen to match the coins with their value.

Initially, they identified the coins and notes of the different denominations from the given picture. They also observed that the currency is not from India and identified the differences between the currencies of both countries- India and the U.K.

The students watched a song about the coins used in the U.K. The link to which is as mentioned here: https://youtu.be/dFzAU3u06Ps

The 'Gummy Bear' just dance song was used as the energizer today.

The students continued with the convention trait of the six traits of writing where they had to identify the missing punctuation and capitalization. They were guided to make a note of the correct sentences in their notebooks.
They also looked at examples of the names of the months of the year, days of the week, and names of holidays, people, and places along with this practice.
Our never-changing highlight of Monday mornings is Dr. Long's video where he mentioned about 'Lateral Thinking' with a couple of thought-provoking examples shared by him.
Dr. Long's messages are highly inspirational and lessons for life. Encourage your children to keep reflecting on his messages and apply them in their lives. :)
