Wise Wednesday- Week 6

Today is the 'World Literacy Day'. To mark this occasion, we had different activities throughout the day. In Maths, students looked at a storybook of Mathstart by Stuart J Murphy about more and less. This was to iterate the concept of comparison of numbers. Then, students continued to solve questions related to the picture prompt we started yesterday. We also introduced the symbols of greater than, less than, and equal to (>, <, and =) through box puppets. The students and teachers decided that they will call it 'crocs'.
We had a guest session after the break. Our school counselor, Dr. Isabelle was the guest speaker who came to guide us on making connections with our minds and body. It was a calm and interesting one where the students were also guided to express their gratitude to their body parts. She also suggested thinking of other people being kind to them.
As mentioned yesterday, students continued to interview their buddies and recorded their responses on a 'T-chart' in breakout rooms. After that, they shared why was this activity conducted in the main session.
At 2 pm, we had a 'Creative Writing Workshop' today where the students of Grade 1 and 2 participated actively. It was an interesting workshop to understand the concept of 'Sensory Imagery' in writing.
To encourage student agency, we are allowing students to conduct energizers for their friends in the class. They can also take charge of the morning messages from next week. We encouraged them to share their activity one day prior to the teachers.
Students also played scavenger hunt activities today that we couldn't play last week.
It was a very busy day for all of us and we had loads of fun today!
