It is been a month, wow!! Isn't that amazing?!
On Wednesday, we had the opportunity to come together as a learning community. Grade 1s and 2s attended a guest session on 'Kindness'. Mr. Rushab Turakhia, the guest speaker is the founder and Kindness Ambassador at 'Your Turn Now'.
For English, we introduced the storyboard to students through a story called 'A friend is someone who'. They viewed and heard the story and created a storyboard with teacher guidance.
In Maths, students are exploring the different tools and strategies to learn the concept of counting and place value of numbers. Students have displayed their understanding of representation of numbers using these tools.
During the SEL lesson, Ms Latha made us groove yet again! Also, we had an exciting quiz on feelings and emotions. Thereafter, we discussed positive thoughts and actions we took during the week in breakout rooms. We also drew three emotions that we knew and felt on a piece of paper to add them to our emotions jar.
Our Thursday morning started with a workout where we got to practise some yoga with a song.
The most exciting part for which the students were waiting was to have a 'Pets and Plants' day. They had the opportunity to introduce their pets and plants to all of us. We made connections with them by observing and identifying the similarities and differences between them and us.
Students also shared what's special about their friends, what is their role in their lives and what role do they play in their lives. It was fascinating to listen to their interesting responses.
Student's responses were recorded using a 'Venn Diagram' and they were guided to make a note of it in their notebooks or paper.
They also watched a video about what living things need for their growth.
Friday's special are our student-led sessions where students step-up to display different art pieces, read and narrate stories, sing and dance, create and perform. Learner agency is the major focus of this session.
It has been an exciting week and a month where students and teachers were engaged and engrossed having fun while learning! :)
