Day 5 begins with a reading session in groups. This week one of the groups focussed on the questioning skills and understood the meaning of 'wonder'. Students read aloud the book and wondered about the questions they had in their minds. In one of the other groups, students re-designed their book covers. The other groups had different books followed by different activities.
Then, we had our Music lesson. Post which we watched Dr. Long's special Monday morning video and reflected on his message in break-out rooms.
Students also reflected on their learning of the previous week through teacher questions. This was followed by playing a game in the break-out rooms. Students sorted the healthy and unhealthy food to recognize what living things including human beings need for energy and growth.
Telugu Day celebration was the highlight of Monday. We had a special assembly at 2 pm where the students displayed their understanding of the importance of this day in a variety of ways. It was truly amazing to watch Dr. Long trying a new language. He truly is an inspiration for all of us.
Our morning messages for Monday and Tuesday were discussed together. The focus of the morning messages is to address ATL skills.
In Maths, students are learning to create number bonds to understand the place value of numbers. They are also learning to expand two-digit numbers. We are using base ten blocks as our tool to understand the concept.
In order to identify and understand the importance of healthy habits, we read aloud a book called 'Scaredy Squirrel' followed by creating their own schedules in two groups.
Students are expected to create the schedules of their daily routines and share them with us by the end of this week.
