End of Week-1 in Crew One

It is hard to believe that we have already come to the end of week one for the new academic year. It doesn't feel new to be with these young ones as they have managed to make each other so comfortable in our virtual classroom. All the students in Crew One (our class) are warm and friendly. We created and revisited our essential agreements during the week. Students also weaved a story using their imagination skills and illustrated the images creatively.

Students enjoyed the book called 'Have you filled a bucket today?' read aloud by the teacher on Wednesday. They could connect with the book and cited examples from their lives for being bucket fillers. One of the students suggested that they can actually create buckets to make their actions visible to themselves and others. Students began to create their 'Kindness Buckets'.
For Maths, students played a game on numbers. We used an online dice to flash a number and students were guided to identify and represent numbers through their observations around. They were actively engaged to find different objects around them to count and display their artefacts.
Students were taken for a virtual school tour to get familiarized with the different spaces at the Aga Khan Academy. Getting to know their school was a complete joy for all the students and teachers. We were thrilled to witness their excitement and enthusiasm. They expressed the same through illustrating their favourite place in the school.
Students were also provided with an opportunity to lead the session on Friday. Their energy was felt as they came up with different talents. From reading and dressing up to playing musical instruments, dancing, displaying their illustrations, cooking, and conducting experiments, it was interesting to know about our students' varied interests.
Adding to all the above, we had an interesting interaction with the parents during our 'Culture Circle'. It was a pleasure to meet all the parents virtually. Our humble gratitude to all who joined us and participated actively. We look forward to having more such engagements with our learning community to build partnerships to enhance our students' learning. :)
